About the Position

Mechanical Engineering Manager

Purpose: Planning, organizing, leading and controlling of all mechanical engineering activities including design and implementation of technical projects. Supervise and manage the drawing office and workshop personnel. Maintain a quality management system and perform detail mechanical design work.

Minimum Requirements:

  • B.Sc/BEng/BTech (Mechanical Engineering)
  • 10 years design and development experience in fine mechanics and precision mechanisms of which at least 3 years as a manager in a mechanical engineering function.
  • Advanced CAD design and draughting experience (preferable Solid Edge).
  • Basic machining/workshop experience.
  • Good report writing skills.

Duties include, but not limited to:

  • Manage / Lead / Motivate mechanical workshop personnel during the manufacturing and machining processes of mechanical components and systems
  • Design, plan, manufacture & procure new mechanical components and/or systems
  • Improving the performance and efficiency of existing products
  • Training of staff in all aspects of mechanical design and manufacturing work
  • Administration and control of divisional budgets
  • Management of mechanical maintenance and repairs
  • Detail mechanical design by means of Solid Edge CAD Software
  • Assist in scheduling the manufacturing of coils for electromagnets
  • Ensuring health and safety regulations and procedures are adhered to
